Off Piste Performance courses for those wishing to improve their skiing ability.
In conjunction with Alison Culshaw we can offer Off Piste Performance courses for those who wish to improve their skiing performance. Either as a ‘bolt on’ day at the start of a tour (this has proved very popular) or a dedicated coaching week with both Guide and Instructor Alison’s input has proven invaluable. We can base these courses throughout the Alps but Zinal, Chamonix and Courmayer are the normal venues. Courses can be structured to personal skiing performance or ski touring skills or both.
Sample itinerary.
Day 1. We start at Le Tour in the Chamonix Valley. This area has a wide variety of terrain and is ideally suited to off piste ‘over the back’. We can look at avalanche awareness and transceiver skills before skiing the steeper stuff!
Day 2. Day tour in the Aiguille Rouges. This is the ‘sunnier’ side of the Chamonix Valley and is a ski tourers paradise. There are many classic tours to choose from but often more technical tours such as the Col de Beugeant (where a rope is used to climb and cross the col) are completed.
Day 3. The Valley Blanche. This is the classic off piste run of the Chamonix Valley but has many variations. We look to climb the Breche Puiseux which involves climbing steep ground before skiing under the north face of the Grande Jorasses.
Day 4. The Grand Montets. Rightly popular this is possibly one of the most famous off piste resorts in the Alps. A wide variety of terrain including glacier skiing from the ‘top bin’ can be enjoyed. A night in the Argentiere Hut is often a good option from here.
Day 5. An ascent of the Aigulle d’Argentiere via the Glacier du Milieu. A great end to the week!
