Greenland Kayak 2025
Summer 2025 has been a mix of alpinism in France, Italy and Switzerland as well as Expedition work in East Greenland.
The summer started very warm and I mostly climbed rocky type objectives with Kevin. We climbed in Chamonix, over in the Valais and had a good trip to the Crete Seche refuge. With the Yorkshire Ramblers Club I ran 2 intro to alpinism courses (based in the Ecrins) with the emphasis on members learning tactics/strategies for recognising and dealing with different terrain. I also spent a week with Lorna climbing in the Hautes Alpes exploring quieter venues.
During the month of August I worked on two seperate expeditions in East Greenland for Pirhuk. The first was based loosely in the Sermilik Fjord with an Inuit Hunter (boat based/camping). The brief was to explore and photograph the terrain but particularly moulins and other glacial features. The second was a family for a multi activity adventure and we trekked, climbed, kayaked and fished before an overnight in a remote cabin.
Lastly I was able to take advantage of the excellent resources and assets of Pirhuk and had a week’s holiday with Lorna kaykaing around Apusiaajik Island. Traveling in East Greenland in kayaks, camping at night and exploring the glaciers and peaks was a very special experience.
